10 Things To Know About Amp & Camp!
Well, it’s that time of year again... The Graff Family are hosting another epic installment of “Amp & Camp”, their annual festival of lights, love, food and music. For us at Tiger Moon it has regularly been our opportunity to reconnect with all the friends, family and freaks that we have missed all summer long!
Here are 10 Things To Know about our favourite little festival in the bush...
1. Love This Land With Us!
The Graffs open up their hearts and their property because they love all of us, and want to share their space with us! In order to keep this beautiful festival going, we always treat it like our own... We’ve got lots of stations for garbage and empties, so help us to take the best care of this place! Once you see how beautiful this place is, you’ll instantly feel the same.
2. Dress for Hot & Cold!
It’s hot during the day, and cold during the evening... Even though your bellies will be full and you’re likely to dance all night long, make sure you bring warm stuff for the evening & overnight! (We’ve had it frost at one particularly chilly Amp & Camp!) Bring your bathing suits as well - sitting in the West Kettle River on Sunday morning is pretty much the best hangover treatment. Ever.
3. Fire Ban Won’t Keep Us Down!
It’s been a long, hot summer, and we’re still in Fire Ban country. Smokeables have to be fully extinguished and disposed of in the cans - OR YOU’LL BE EXTINGUISHED! ;) No campfires - but we will have a couple propane fire rings to enjoy!
4. It’s Rustic, Baby!
We’ve got no running water, no flushing toilets, no extra beds, very little cell service, and no electricity to spare! Bring lots of water, prepare for porta-potty-pooping, and get back to nature with us! If you get dirty, a little more dirt and water from the West Kettle should rub it right out... More or less.
5. Doggos & Pets!
We love your furballs. In some cases we love your furballs more than you! (Ha!) But this year unfortunately we have a strict No Pets rule. We’ve tried it in the past, and it has caused stress and concern for owners and pups both! You know dogs - sometimes with new doggy friends they forget their manners!
6. Special Time For Family & Friends of ALL Sizes!
We love our kiddos, and we love seeing them rock out to great music! We do have a quiet family camping area for those camping with kiddos. We’ll help guide you for parking & camping to get the sweet spots during the day Saturday, and let us know ASAP if you have a camper!
7. $20 Suggested Donation Per Person
Amp & Camp is pretty much the best deal going in terms of music festivals! With 5 All-Star bands, a beautiful setting and a massive feast, the $20 Suggested Donation is a KILLER DEAL! This is to help pay the bands, and to pay for the food - Amp & Camp is a not-for-profit festival! Also, if you love the festival, we’ll have donation jars around to help us fatten up the bands’ pockets! The bands will also be bringing their merchandise, so if you’ve got a crush on one band in particular, let ‘em know and get their music!
8. EAT! EAT! And More EAT!
The Graff spread is always incredible! There will be vegetarian and carnivorous offerings to satisfy all of your discerning palettes. Make sure you catch the dinner at 5pm and fill up before the long night of merry-making!
9. What A Lineup!
With some of the best bands from the area, we’ve got music going 7pm until late!
7:00 pm - Tiger Moon
8:00 pm - The Mountain Sound
9:00 pm - Sunday Morning String Band
10:00 pm - Ancient Engines
11:00 pm - Devon Coyote
There will also be a couple propane fire rings, so late night jams and collaborations are encouraged! Bring a guitar, a banjo, a ukelele, or anything your musical heart desires!
10. How To Get There!
The Graff’s are at 5535 Highway 33. If you have any trouble don’t hesitate to call Dan!
Head down Highway 33 to Beaverdell. It’s about 2 minutes past Beaverdell. Look for the Inukshuk at the driveway. Once you turn into the drive, follow the road right and that will lead you to Amp & Camp!
Well, that’s it! Please contact any of your hosts if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or if you just wanna chat about feelings!
So long for now! We’ll see you Saturday to create some Mountain Magic together!
